Australia Weddings

Australia boasts that is one of the friendliest countries in the world, one thing is for certain; you will be assured a warm welcome. With its strong links to the UK, Australia will provide a homely feel – but this is where the similarities end, for this is a diverse county like no other. An absolutely wonderful place, to hold your wedding.

We firstly feature Queensland, with the sweeping ocean in the background you will be treated to the delightful fauna & flora this area has to offer. Exotic bird song may feel the air, whilst tropical butterflies dance in delight. What a privilege it would be to get married in such an enchanting setting. Another destination we offer is the Barrier Reef Islands, set amongst the coral of the Pacific Ocean. Marvel at the spectacular sight seeing opportunities that is unique to this area. In fact anyone looking for an idyllic, exotic, sun kissed and pristine destination to hold a wedding won’t be disappointed.

Summers & winters are the reverse to those in Europe, so summer is November to March & winter April to October. The summer season is the best time to visit Sydney with temperatures regularly hitting the 30s. November and March are best for visitors wanting sunshine without the heat. Winter days can be warm, and often hit the 20s, but can also be damp and quite chilly. Winter nights are likely to be cold.

Tipping

Not generally a custom as in the UK, but around 10% is usual in hotels & restaurants. It is not customary to tip taxis.

Rules & regulations for marriage

You must be resident at least 3 days prior to wedding ceremony. As a minimum, a passport & birth certificate are required. A ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ will be required, supplied by tour operators wedding department. It must be completed and signed by the bride & groom and stamped by an official of the Australian Embassy in London or a Notary Public (not a solicitor). It will then be sent to Australia ahead of your big day. Rules differ if you have previously been married, are adopted, changed your name or are under 18. We will always check the latest advice.

Passports

A visa is required and a full British passport is required, with validity for the duration of at least your stay. Although it is always advisable to have 6 months validity after your return date.
